Welcome to the Nurse's office at HHIECC
My name is Anne Jacoby and I am your school nurse. I am a Registered Nurse with over 12 years nursing experience, specializing mainly in pediatrics. I look forward to meeting you as parents and caring for your child this year.
I hope that your child never has to miss school because of illness or disease. The best protection from disease is prevention. You can help prevent many illnesses by making sure your child receives immunizations and by making sure your child knows how to wash his or hands often.
If you think that your child has an illness that can be spread to others, please keep him or her home from school and contact your doctor or clinic. Here is a quick reference of illnesses for exclusion from school.
If your child has any of the following illnesses, please keep them home!
Chicken Pox/Varicella (may return once all lesions have crusted over)
Fever (temperature 100.4 and above) by itself
Fever with rash, behavior changes or other symptoms
German Measles/Rubella/3 Day Measles
HIB (Haemophilus influenza type B)
Impetigo (may return once properly treated)
Flu or Flu like symptoms
Measles/red Measles/10 day Measles
Pink Eye/Conjunctivitis (may return after 24 hours of antibiotics)
Ringworm (may return once treated properly)
Staph or Strep infections (including MRSA)
Strep Throat (may return after 24 hours of antibiotic treatment)
*Remember, if your child has been ill with fever, vomiting and/or diarrhea, the child must be symptom free and/or fever free for 24 hours before returning to school!
Children with the following conditions do not have to be excluded from school, if they feel well enough to participate in regular school activities.
Colds, without fever
Illnesses from Tick Bites
MRSA, if child is only a carrier
Rash without fever or behavior change
Red eye without yellow or green matting
RSV-Respiratory Syncytial Virus
Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever
West Nile Virus
I hope this information has been helpful to you. Please feel free to call or stop by my office at any time if you have any questions or concerns.
Thank you and welcome to our school!
